Dr. Reina-Ortiz is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Global Health, College of Public Health, University of South Florida. He earned his MD degree from Universidad Central del Ecuador and his PhD degree from University of South Florida.

Potential candidates will require completing an application form available from June 3, 2016 on payment of Rs. 500 from Kathmandu University Central Office, Dhulikhel (Tel # 011 66 13 99/ 011 66 15 11) from 10:00 AM to 3 PM on working days. Application form can also be downloaded from link below.  The completed application form must be submitted along with necessary documents not later than June 24, 2016 before 4 PM to KU Central Office, Dhulikhel, Kavre.  The shortlisted candidate must make a payment of Rs 1500 as test and interview fee for Assistant Professor and Rs 1200 for Lecturer as test and interview fee at the time of collecting admit card.

Documents required: Attested copies of mark sheets of all academic qualifications/ transcripts, citizenship certificate, work and professional experience certificates (both existing and previous), training certificates, and a list of research publications.  Two recent PP size photographs should be attached.

Programs Organized by Dept. of Pharmacy

27 May 2016, Department of Pharmacy, School of Science, organized one-day workshop on "Infection Prevention and Control in Hospitals". The workshop was supported by the University Grants Commission. The trainers were Dr. Reetu Baral, Dr. Safiur Rahaman Ansari and Mr. Sitaram Bhattarai, members of Healthy Life Foundation. Dr. Rajani Shakya, Acting Head of Department,  welcomed all the trainers and the participants.

Prof. Dr. Mohan Bikram Gewali, Dean of School of Science, inaugurated the program. The participants were mainly nursing personnel from Scheer Memorial Hospital and Dhulikhel Hospital.


On the same day, Forum for Pharmacy (FoP), Students’ club of the Department started a training program on Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), in collaboration with White Mountain Training Institute. This is a four-day program and remaining training will be conducted in June 3-5.

Forty BPharm students participated in the training conducted by Mr. Behrouz Moghaddasi, an Iranian physician and search and rescue instructor, first aid instructor and expert naturalist. 

The program started with a welcome speech by Dr. Rajani Shakya, Acting Head of the Department. Prof. Dr. Mohan Bikram Gyawali, Dean, School of Science, spoke on the importance of the program and welcomed Mr. Behrouh Moghaddasi and the training assistant Mr. Dipesh Shrestha from White Mountain Training Insitute. Mr. Badri K.C, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy, coordinated this event.

Disaster preparedness, disaster dorms, earthquake awareness and shake out were the major areas covered on the first day. The training topics that will be covered in June 3-5, 2016 are Disaster medical operations, light search and rescue, team organization, disaster psychology, terrorism and CERT.

Five-Day Training on Hydrological Approach

Kathmandu University (School of Science and School of Engineering) in collaboration with OXFAM GB in Nepal has accomplished a training on "Hydrogeological Approach on Spring Source Enhancement". Fifteen participants from OXFAM and 4 students from Kathmandu University took part in the five-day course from 23 May to 27 May, 2016 in Mini hall of CV Raman Auditorium.

The opening ceremony of the training was conducted on 23rd May by Prof. Mohan Bikram Gewali, Dean, School of Science and Prof. Ramesh Kumar Maskey, Associate Dean School of Engineering along with associate professor Kumud Raj Kafle, Coordinator of the training. The training certificates were distributed by the Dean, School of Science, on the final day of the training on 27th of May.
