KU is pleased to invite application for Ford Foundation Endowed Chair at the level of Professor in Environmental Engineering/Science. The candidate should preferably have expertise in the field of pollution control, process engineering and interdisciplinary areas of environmental Engineering/Science.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: PhD or its equivalent degree in relevant discipline and at least 12 years of teaching experience with good number of research publications in peer-reviewed international journals OR at least 12 years of research and industrial experiences from recognized institutions with good number of research publications. Depending upon the experience and academic/research profile of the candidate, Chair Professor position will be awarded.

SALARIES AND BENEFITS:  Salary is negotiable.  Additionally, accommodation of single bed room reasonably furnished with fixed kitchen utensils, and single round trip air ticket (economy class) from home town to Kathmandu once a year excluding family members shall be offered.

TENURE: Initial contract will be for a period of two years with the possibility of extension for three more years on Annual basis.



Responsibilities of Chair Professor include; 

  •          Teaching a minimum of two courses, carrying three credit (one Course of 3 Credit meaning 48 hours of lectures) each, one at Undergraduate level and other at Master’s level,  in one academic year.
  •          Guiding research at M.Tech. Environmental Engineering and MSc Environment and Natural Resources, at least three  PhD Research supervision, Dissertation Guidance / Supervision,
  •          Partnering in seeking external grants through development of International Research Project proposals,    
  •          Two Research Publications in air quality monitoring and control,
  •           Strengthening Laboratory Facilities and Equipments for Higher Research in  Environmental Pollution Science Laboratory ,
  •          Participation in workshop/ Seminar/Conference/Guest Lectures ,
  •          Organizing International Conferences, and
  •          Other Activities as advised by the Dean, School of Science

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Interested applicants are requested to send in application along with latest resume, list of publications, testimonials, work experience letters, one recent passport size photograph, and names and contact addresses of two Referees.  Application received with incomplete or invalid documents and after the deadline will not be processed for shortlisting. Only the short listed candidate will be called for an interview.
