Dr. Chhatra Sharma of the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering with his colleagues from Chinese Academy of Sciences and Lappeenranta University of Technology published a research article on peer-reviewed international journal. The title of the article is "Variations of the Physicochemical Parameters and Metal Levels and Their Risk Assessment in Urbanized Bagmati River, Kathmandu, Nepal" which is published in Journal of Chemistry

UGC-FBF Scholarship Application Notice for Master Students of School of Engineering

This is to notify students enrolled in Master Programs of School of Engineering in 2016/17 academic session that needy and meritorious students may apply for financial support under UGC Formula Based Funding Scheme by duly filling the application form and submitting required documents. Application submission deadline is 13 January 2017.

Selected applicants will be recommended for FBF scholarship to UGC. Scholarship will be confirmed only after approval of UGC and fund transfer from UGC to KU for the purpose.

Mr.Shailendra Kumar Jha, Assistant Professor,DoEEE and the team at IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference 2016

Mr. Shailendra Kumar Jha, Assistant Professor andMs. Shristi Shakya, Mr. Ujjwal Shrestha, Mr. Manish Shrestha and Ms. Rosy Bhattarai Undergraduate students, at the Department of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (DoEEE), attended the IEEE Region 10 Humanitarian Technology Conference 2016 held on December 21st -23rd, 2016, at DEI, Agra, India. They presented three papers at the conference. The papers focused on the technical and humanitarian aspects of renewable energy system.

Energize Nepal is a project funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Norway. The Project is managed by Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal, in partnership with Hydro Lab Pvt. Ltd., Nepal, SINTEF Energy Research (SEfAS), Norway, and Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway. The Project aims to improve the capacity of research and education required for development of the renewable energy sector in Nepal and the region. The overall project duration is 5 years.

Applications from qualified, hardworking and result oriented professionals are hereby invited for following project management position.

  1. Position: Assistant Project Manager

   Contract type: Full time contract

   Contract Duration: One year with possibility of extension

   Duty station: Dhulikhel with field visits as necessary

Desired qualification and experiences: A Master’s level degree in Energy and Environment, Hydropower & Renewable Energy, Energy Planning, Technology and Innovation, Development Studies Economics, Sociology, Project Management or any other related field; minimum of 5 years of working experience in managing field activities including Monitoring & Evaluation of projects and results.

A talk on the creative arts by Samrat Upadhyay, Su-Cho and Anthony Correale

The US Embassy's Book Bus is happy to host writer and professor of creative writing, Samrat Upadhyay from Indiana University, Bloomington and two of his students, Su Cho and Anthony Correale in a talk program where they will talk about their creative processess and the creative arts in Indiana University. 

The event is being hosted by Kathmandu University's School of Arts at Hattiban, Lalitpur and is open to the general public. We request you to be at the venue by 11:00 am. The event is jointly organized by the US Embassy's Book Bus along with Kathmandu University's School of Arts, Quixote's Cove, La.Lit and the Word Warriors. 

Samrat Upadhyay is the first Nepali-born fiction writer to be published in the United States. His debut short story collection Arresting God in Kathmandu was the winner of the 2001 Whiting Writers’ Award and his second short story collection, The Royal Ghosts, won the 2007 Asian American Literary Award. His first novel, The Guru of Love, was a New York Times Notable Book while his second novel, Buddha’s Orphans, was longlisted for the 2012 DSC Prize for South Asian Literature. His 2014 novel, The City Son, has been longlisted for PEN Open Book award. He is the Martha C. Kraft Professor of Humanities at Indiana University, where he teaches in its MFA program (http://iub.edu/~mfawrite/about/).

Su Cho is the Editor-in-Chief and Anthony Correale is the Nonfiction Editor of Indian Review, a literary magazine edited and managed by Indiana University graduate students.
