Invitation to Interaction with DAAD

A delegation from DAAD (German Academic Exchange Services) is coming to  Nepal from DAAD office, New Delhi, together with the Ambassador of Germany to Nepal. There will be an interaction program with faculties and students in KU as well. The details are as follows:

Call for applications: A Training course on Participatory Design

Building Stronger Universities (BSU) II (Renewable Theme) - funded by Denmark Fellowship Center (DFC), DANIDA at KU seeks to strengthen the capacity of researchers through disciplinary development by introducing a participatory design course.

As part of disciplinary development, BSU II- Renewable Theme Kathmandu University (KU) with its partner institution Aalborg University will hold a training course on Participatory Design commencing from 20th September to 24th September 2015. This course aims to give participants insight on design through ethnographic skills to explore user needs and innovation possibilities, methods of how to transfer this knowledge into design criteria which forms the basis of the final design concept and the conceptualization skills to design and develop technological solutions.

We are calling for applicants from school of engineering, who are working on projects that requires involvement of important stakeholders and especially the potential users when designing and developing technologies. A total of 12 participants will be selected based on research and relevance of training to their current research. Selected participants will attend five days intensive training course that includes comprehensive lectures combined with practical session on participatory design, ethnographic methods (observations, photographic notes and interviews + affinity diagram), design games, requirements and criteria to a technology/product, conceptualization: brainstorming and morphology and weighing concepts.

Søsser Brodersen and Signe Pedersen from Aalborg University Copenhagen, Denmark will conduct the training.

Application deadline is September 14, 2015. Among applications only 12 applicants will be selected according to submitted relevance.

Applicant requirements

  • Should be from School of Engineering, Kathmandu University
  • Should hold a minimum bachelor degree and a year experience in a research at KU.
  • Master or PhD Student, lecturer, assistant professor, research associate or research fellows at school of engineering
  • Should be currently engaged in research works
  • Good working knowledge of written and spoken English

Women candidates are particularly encouraged to apply.

Interested applicants should send a cover letter mentioning their current research and relevance along with C.V to any of the following BSU II staff by 14th September 2015. Successful applicants will be notified by 16th September 2015.

Kathmandu University, School of Science, announces Admission Open at the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering,inM.Sc. Environment and Natural Resources.


For admission into the MSc ENR program, the general requirement is 4 years of studiesafter twelve years of schooling or equivalent level. For candidates with 3 years of Bachelor’s degree, one semester of Bridge Course is required to join in with regular intakes of B.Sc. (Hons) in Environmental Science.Admission to MSc ENR is based on academic promise of applicants as indicated in their academic records, statement of objectives, recommendations, scores on entrance test, proposal for the Master’s Thesis and personal interview.  Priority will be given to qualified female candidates andcandidates from marginalized groups and remote districts.


Application forms are available at theuniversity's administration office, School of Science, Block 06, Dhulikhel, Kavre, or on-line at the Kathmandu University, School of Science, Department of Environmental Science & Engineering website (Graduate Application Form). Submit completed application form with application fee of Rs. 1250deposited to Kathmandu University Accounts maintained at the Nepal Investment Bank Limited, Banepa Branch, along with photocopies of previous academic and citizenship certificates to the department office at Dhulikhel, Kavre.

Last date of submission of application is Friday,04September 2015,and Entrance Test will be held on Monday 07, September 2015.

Only short listed candidates will be informed for an interview onThursday, 10 September 2015.

Call for Application in Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) – 2015


Entry Requirement:
Candidates with BPharm or equivalent degree with minimum CGPA of 2.0 or 50% in aggregate.

Specialization Areas:
1. Industrial Pharmacy
2. Pharmaceutical Care

Course Duration:
The duration for the regular MPharm program is two years.

10 (from the merit list of entrance exam) + 4 (corporate seats for the pharmaceutical
companies/ institutions having MoU with KU) for each specialization area.

Application Form Distribution:
Application forms are being distributed from Department of Pharmacy, Kathmandu University, in between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm during working days.

Last date for submitting forms has been extended to 04 September, 2015

Application fee:
NRs 1250/- to be deposited in bank account of Kathmandu University at Nepal Investment Bank
