First Annual Conference on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene 2014

Kathmandu University is organizing the First Annual Conference on 21 March 2014 with the aim of bringing together the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) issues within the nation. Through this conference the organizers hope to augment critical and interdisciplinary discussions on various aspects of the WASH sector. We welcome presentations of papers based on recent researches.

 Note:

  • Abstract, research paper and presentation can be either in Nepali or English.
  • Research abstracts (of 500 words) to submit within the deadline, 3 March 2014. The abstract can be directly sent by email to bstl.ku.wash@gmail.com
  • Decision on submitted abstracts will be conveyed by email by 5 March 2014
  • Final paper should be submitted by 10 March 2014.
  • Outstanding papers will be awarded with some incentives

Registration Charge: Rs. 1000/- (for a student project, Rs. 500/-)
Date of the Conference:    Friday, 21 March 2014.
Venue of the Conference:   Kathmandu Univesity, Dhulikhel, Kavre.

CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

NATIONAL LEVEL TRAINING ON WATER SANITATION AND HYGIENE (WASH)

17 – 20 March 2014

After the completion of the two National level trainings on water sanitation and hygiene; Kathmandu University, Department of Environment Science & Engineering and Department of Mechanical Engineering invite application for a four-day “National Training on Water Sanitation and Hygiene WASH)” from 17 to 20 March at the University premises in Dhulikhel. The training is being organized in collaboration with Water Aid in Nepal and will be facilitated by both in-house University experts and external experts from several WASH-related organizations

The main objectives of this training are:

         i.           Focus on technical aspects and practical approaches on WASH with appropriate case studies and field visits

       ii.            Capacity building of participants in WASH delivery programs

 iii.         Further development of networking in WASH

Registration Fee              : Rs. 4,000/- per participant (Accommodation, field visit and closing social event)

Target Participants           WASH practitioners: Sanitation workers and Public Health             professionals

Deadline for application     : March 9th 2014

Mr. Kharel Presents in IEEE Conference

Mr. Purusottam Kharel, Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, presented a paper in the 4th IEEE International Conference held in Gurgaon, India, during 21-22 February 2014.

His paper was entitled “E-Government Implementing Challenges Verification Using Fuzzy Logic.
