University of New Mexico Delegates visit Kathmandu University 

Memorandum of Understanding is signed between Kathmandu University (KU) and University of New Mexico (UNM) to begin formal relationship between two universities. Four-member delegates headed by Dr. Suzanne Ortega (Executive Vice president and Provost),along with  Dr. Phillip Gonzales, Sr. Associate Dean, Arts and Sciences, Professor, Dr. Alok K. Bohara, Professor, Department of Economics and Dr. Kristin Vanderbilt, Associate Research Professor, Sevilleta Long-term research, Department of Biology, UNM were the team members. The objectives of the MoU included exchange of teaching and research personnel, exchange of students, development of joint research projects, organization of joint academic and scientific activities such as academic and professional courses, conferences, seminars, symposia and lectures etc. 

The delegation had series of discussions with the deans and faculties to explore various subject areas where both the universities can go hand in hand from December 1-December 3 in different meetings in KUSOM building, Dhulikhel Hospital and Central Office Kathmandu University.  On December 3, 2009, after the signing of the academic agreement, there was formal inauguration of KU UNM Nepal Study Center in Kathmandu University at KUSOM. The center was opened with the objective to run and facilitate joint activities and research projects on Nepal.

 The delegation also visited and met officials of ICIMOD, NTNC and FoB and discussed the possibilities of various activities along with KU. 

The delegation of Kathmandu University comprising Prof. Suresh Raj Sharma, Vice Chancellor, and Prof Subas KC, Dean of School of Management had visited UNM in April 2008.

President of Korea University visits Kathmandu University 
On November 25, 2009 Korea University President Prof Ki Soo Lee visited Kathmandu University along with Dr Heungsuk Choi, Director of International Affair. Kathmandu University and Korea University had signed a memorandum of understanding in August during the visit of Vice Chancellor, Prof Suresh Raj Sharma to Korea University. The objective of the President's visit was to strengthen the relationship between the two universities through exploring the possibilities where both the universities can implement specific academic programs and projects. Korea University is among the top three universities in Korea. It has strong academic-industrial collaboration. There had discussions in number of issues of mutual interest including exchange of students, faculties and scholarships. It also has been agreed that joint research will be initiated in the areas of common interest and benefits in which both the partners can contribute. Some of the fields of research discussed were energy, environment–climate change, pharmaceutical, community medicine etc. President was also accompanied by his wife.
