“Kathmandu University Alumni Association”
and “Kathmandu University Open Source Community KUOSC” are
jointly organizing “Linux Talks”. The program is targeted
at providing hands-on skills to its participants regarding GNU/Linux and
some of the most used Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) tools. The
program also envisions about creating necessary awareness regarding Software
Piracy, and how FOSS can be a feasible solution for the problem.
The targeted participants of the programs are mainly
the students, faculties and staffs of KU. It is scheduled to begin from
May 10, 2007 and will go for about three months (two hour session per
week). The program will be held on every Friday from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
at KU, Dhulikhel.
If any KU graduate is interested to attend the program,
KUAA and KU Open Source Community could organize such type of talks in
School of Management Complex at Balkumari as well. Interested members

Mr. Brijesh Sharma, Telecom Engineer, Nepal (graduates of batch 1995-1999,
Electrical and Electronics Engineering, KU) has presented a paper entitled
“Technology and Management, a Quest for Synergy”, for National
Seminar on Blending of Technology and Management for Managers of Today
and Tomorrow organized by Indian Institute for Production Management,
Rourkel, March 7-8, 2006.

Meeting of KUAA"
The Annual General Meeting of Kathmandu University Alumni Association
(KUAA) held on November 18, 2006 at Hotel Del Annapurna, Durbarmarg, Kathmandu,
Nepal. The meeting approved the progress report and audit report of fiscal
year 2062/63. The meeting also passed the annual programs and budget for
fiscal year 2063/64.
The election of working committee members was also held in the same day.
Ms. Sijan Sharma has been elected as a president of KUAA for the period
of three years effective from 2063/008/03. Similarly, Mr. Sanat Kumar
Bista has been elected as a Vice President, Mr. Binod Aryal, Member Secretary,
Mr. Kumar Baral, Treasurer and Ms. Anjita S. KC, Ms. Mandakini Bhatta,
and Mr. Purusotham Kharel as the members of the working committee of KUAA.
Till now the committee members were working as ad-hoc members. Among all,
Mr. Kharel is a new member of KUAA, and he is a graduate of MTech, Information
Technology. Ms. Jyoti Pradhan was as election officer of the day.
Mr. Uttam Budathoki and Mr. Nabhendra Poudel have been nominated as advisor
of KUAA for the period of three years effective from the same day. .
All the graduates who have taken the membership of KUAA were present
in the occasion.

the expenses of the day).
