Design of DOCSIS Based Network and QOS Monitoring

The purpose of this project is to design a DOCSIS based network and monitoring of quality of service. DOCSIS is the standard used for Broadband Internet Service through community antenna television network. This project involves the study of HFC network, different Cable Internet Standards and QoS parameters in DOCSIS. The major point of focus is the thorough study of the physical layer of the network, which includes modulation and channel coding simulations. Apart from the design and study of the network, the next point of focus is the QoS parameters involved. The key parameters that have been considered are bandwidth, delay and availability. These parameters are measured in an actual network setting with the help of network monitoring programs developed during the course of this project. The outcome of this project will be a guideline for designing efficient network and quality of service monitoring for the cable ISPs.
