Adaptive Filter for Channel Characterization

The project focuses on the use of adaptive filtering to characterize an unknown channel. An adaptive filter is essentially a Digital filter with self-adjusting characteristics. It adapts automatically to changes in its input signals. An adaptive filter, in general, can be used for various purposes such as noise cancellation, system modeling, linear combiner etc.; here it has been used to find out the characteristics of an unknown channel. An unknown channel has been simulated and used to test an adaptive filter which too has been designed with similar characteristics so as to be able to compare the results of the two filters. The adaptive filter thus designed has proved to be satisfactorily accurate for testing unknown channels with FIR characteristics.
