Techno-economic Comparision of 11/6.6/0.4 KV and 11/3.3/0.4 KV Distribution System

Anekot VDC of Kavrepalanchok district is taken for the purpose of the study of the distribution system. We have seen the system here is least reliable and have more losses comparatively. To address this, the distribution system that is in existence i.e. 11/0.4 kV is compared with that the systems that have been suggested in this report i.e. 11/6.6/0.4 kV and 11/3.3/0.4 kV system.

It is seen from the analysis that the proposed systems were found to be better in efficiency and voltage regulation as that compared to the existing 11/0.4 kV system. But the energy losses in case of proposed system far exceed the energy losses as compared to existing system within the period of ten years of analysis. This reason for such a high energy losses were due to the additional transformer in intermediate voltage level line, which had constant iron loss. Also the proposed system was found to be advantageous in terms of reduction of some non-technical losses like theft because of reduction of low tension line and addition of an intermediate voltage level line.

The installation cost of the proposed systems (11/6.6/0.4 kV and 11/3.3/0.4 kV) were found to be nearly same as that of the existing system (11/0.4 kV), only deviation of ±50,000 was found from the study. So, the implementation of the system that has been Proposed may reveal better result on further load increment because in this project analysis low loading and higher capacity of transformer installed boosted more energy losses.
