Dynamic Channel Allocation in WLL

For the efficient utilization of the traffic channel in WLL different channel allocation scheme such as fixed channel allocation, dynamic channel allocation and hybrid channel allocation scheme has been developed. The important feature of the Dynamic Channel Allocation based WLL scheme mitigates the effects of interference and negates the need to do frequency planning. In dynamic channel allocation scheme all channels are initially available in every sector. As calls are placed, a channel is available for reuse based on its co-channel distance or interference level. The capability of WLL that uses DCA scheme is suitable to be for rural, suburban and urban multi-cell environments. With DCA, WLL allows different systems to utilize the same group of available channels without prior distribution of channels to specific services or base stations. DCA based WLL increases the network coverage, enhances capacity at low cost and provide high quality real time services. Digitally Enhanced Cordless Telephony (DECT) is WLL based system that uses DCA schemes. DECT has been adopted in almost 110 countries of the world.

Taking the important feature of DCA scheme as granted, we have designed DCA schemes and the result of simulation have been observed for the comparative analysis that gives performance that best fit the subscriber calling and holding characteristic, channel availability maintaining co-channel interference and grade of service. This project deals with simulation of the traffic behavior of DCA in wireless system. The blocking probability of different DCA algorithm has been estimated. We have implemented both the blocked call and the block call delayed system in the channel allocation algorithm and the analysis of these two systems has been made. The simulation of these schemes is carried out in Matlab.
