PCEG 313  ENGINEERING PROJECT 1 Credit

Objective:

  1. To apply the knowledge gained from various courses in carrying out electrical and electronic system design and its implementation
  2. To develop skills in goal setting, planning, investigation and research, teamwork, implementation, assessment, report writing and presentation
  3. To develop practical skills required for real engineering practice, from conceptualisation to effective realization.

Outline:

For the third year project, students work in groups for designing and implementing larger engineering system. Within a group, subgroups work on sub modules of the system. Opportunity for working with groups of other engineering departments is also explored. Collaboration between the students doing projects in various other engineering departments is encouraged. Students are assessed on their individual performance, but group-work performance is also assessed.

In this semester students shall concentrate on setting goals and conducting research on their chosen project subject. The library and laboratories are available as resources. Students shall maintain an up-to-date Logbook, which is reviewed regularly by his/her supervisor. Short papers must be submitted at regular intervals as required. At the end of the semester, the complete team makes a presentation of progress to date and plan for next semester.
